The industry leader will also be underlining its commitment to its strategy of creating value and contributing to advancement in the plastics industry.

A key industry player for over 50 years, SONGWON has progressively grown to become a global leader in the development, production and supply of specialty chemicals. The company’s success is founded on a combination of industry experience, innovative strength and the inherent ability to provide high-performance solutions that meet the increasingly diverse and complex needs of their customers while also responding to evolving market trends.

SONGWON’s new product family of flame retardants

At K2019, in response to the vivid opportunities offered by the global flame retardants market on the back of the increased demand for flame retardant chemicals in a wide number of end use industries, SONGWON has leveraged its expertise in additives and launched its new family of products.

With their synergistic effects, the SONGFLAME* flame retardant (FR) family of products was designed to provide high performance and competitive advantages in a broad range of applications, as well as fuel the growth of halogen-free solutions for a wide variety of materials, ranging from foams to various polymers such as polyolefins, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). SONGFLAME technology is also recommended for thermosets, wood, coatings and adhesive applications.

Fully understanding the value of strategic collaboration, SONGWON welcomed the opportunity to partner with Nordtreat, Europe’s leading manufacturer of non-toxic FRs for wood. Going forward, the two organizations will be working together to further develop new, safer and more environmentally friendly FR solutions for the wood market. Visitors to SONGWON’s stand at K2019 can see the collaboration ‘live’ as the booth’s wood beams are all coated with Nordtreat’s products.

SONGWON has also engaged into key cooperation projects with other major players of the plastics industry value chain. Project outcomes are expected to unlock new possibilities for halogen-free materials and pave the way for more sustainable solutions.

Customer-focused innovation

Always upholding its strategy and keeping a close eye on major global issues and trends related to plastics, SONGWON continues to deliver focused and targeted solutions. The organization invests in new technology to ensure it continues to reliably deliver customers new solutions that address key issues related to plastic materials, such as sustainability and product safety.

With the new SONGXTEND® 2151 and SONGXTEND® 2152 stabilizers for PP-R pipes, plastic pipe manufacturers benefit from SONGWON’s long-standing expertise. Contributing to lightweight, fast and reliable weld jointing, and corrosion resistance, make the stabilizers the ideal choice for heating, plumbing and domestic water pipes.

SONGWON’s SONGXTEND® 1105 is a new blend based on a phenolic antioxidant and a high-performance phosphite which addresses the requirements of resin producers in Cr‑HDPE blow-molding resin stabilization. Offering color improvement, the blend ensures excellent hydrolytic stability compared to some other high-performance phosphites used alone or in blends.

SONGWON will also be showcasing solutions especially designed to help manufacturers in the automotive industry meet their application challenges. Designed to meet the stringent European automotive OEMs' LTTS requirements for interior or under-the-hood applications, SONGXTEND® 2721 stabilizer improves the long-term thermal stability (LTTS) of recycled polypropylene compounds.

An innovative and robust light stabilizer system, will also be presented that was especially developed for agricultural applications. SABO®STAB UV 216 with its outstanding thermal and UV protection, provides greenhouse films with proven resistance to agrochemicals even when higher concentrations of sulfur are present.

In addition to these innovations, SONGWON will also be exhibiting its strength and long-standing expertise in Tin Intermediates, PVC Additives, and Polymers.

Well-suited to a number of applications such as cables, tubes, films, profiles, compounds and masterbatches, SONGWON’s new SONGSTOMER™ Polyether-TPU products P-3280A10 / P-3285A10 / P-3285-A10U / P-3290A10 / P-3295A10 / P-3254-D10 secure higher mechanical property stability, including less discoloration under long-term heat aging and thermoplastic processing and their high resistance to hydrolysis and microbe attack, make them products of choice for compounding.

SONGWON will also be presenting its expertise in the area of TPU/POM compounds with two new products from its SONGSTOMER™ Polyester-TPU range. Ideal for injection molding parts such as engineering buckles, clips for tubes, sports gear or leisure goods, SONGSTOMER™ P-3175A and SONGSTOMER™ P-3180A can be processed using injection molding and extrusion and their smaller granule size enables even faster and easier melting and subsequently higher compounding productivity.
